Yes, a psychologist is covered by Bupa Australia, so long as your policy covers you for 'mental health services' and the psychologist is a Bupa provider.
Does Bupa require me to have a referral to see a psychologist?
No, unlike Medicare, you do not need a referral from a GP, you can simply book a session with a Bupa approved psychologist and then claim your rebate.
Can I claim a rebate from both Medicare and Bupa?
No, you can only claim from one or the other. You do not need a MHCP or referral to claim from Bupa, but you will need one for Medicare.
To make a claim from Medicare you must have a mental health care plan and a referral from the GP.
